Islamabad: Radio Pakistan has organized a special programme at the PBC headquarters in Islamabad in connection with Independence Day celebrations. It featured a variety of cultural and musical performances, including stage performances by renowned singers and artists.
According to Radio Pakistan, the event saw the participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, who extended warm greetings to the government and people of Pakistan on their Independence Day. The Ambassador remarked that August 14 symbolizes the culmination of the Pakistani nation's determined struggle for freedom and statehood. He highlighted the enduring bond between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, likening the two nations to brothers who have supported each other during challenging times. The Ambassador expressed optimism that the cordial relations between the two countries will deepen further, contributing to the prosperity of both peoples.
Secretary Information and Broadcasting, Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of independence as a blessing achieved through the immense sacrifices of ancestors in 1947. He urged attendees to honor these sacrifices by performing their duties with greater honesty and sincerity. Khalil encouraged participants to actively contribute to the country's development and progress with full dedication. He described Radio Pakistan as a historic institution with vast outreach, both domestically and internationally, and praised its ability to maintain its identity despite the emergence of new technologies in the media industry.
Director General Radio Pakistan, Saeed Ahmed Sheikh, in his concluding remarks, reiterated the sentiment of independence being a great blessing. He contrasted the situation of Muslims in India under the Hindutva regime with the freedom enjoyed by minorities in Pakistan. Sheikh emphasized the importance of youth in shaping the nation's future and encouraged them to contribute to the country's development and progress.
The event concluded with a shield distribution ceremony, recognizing prominent dignitaries who have played a significant role in the country's progress and development.
