A senior leader of the Pushtoon Qaumi Tehreek, Rafique Pushtoon, on Friday called for the repeal of the 26th constitutional amendment, saying the move would restore Pakistan’s 1973 Constitution to its original form.
He made these remarks during a meeting with Malak Abdul Khaliq Pushtoon, a former provincial president of the Pushtoon Students Federation and prominent tribal leader from Muslim Bagh. The meeting was held at the central secretariat of the Pushtoon Qaumi Tehreek.
Mr Rafique welcomed a decision by the Balochistan Bar Council to challenge the amendment in court, adding that any clauses affecting human rights should be revoked to prevent the erosion of basic rights for the country’s 240 million people.
