Seven innocent workers from Punjab were shot dead and one other injured by unidentified gunmen in a residential quarter near Fish Harbour area of Surbandar in district Gwadar of Balochistan province in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to police, unidentified assailants gunned down seven labours in a residential quarter near Fish Harbour area Sirbund in district Gwadar when they were asleep while one labourer was injured in the incident. The victims used to work at a barber shop in Surbandar.

Among the dead labours included Sajid Qureshi son of Khalid Qureshi, resident of Muhsinwal, Khanewal; Asad Qureshi son of Habib Qureshi, resident of Lodhra; Adnan son of Maqbool, resident of Abdul Hakeem, district Khanewal; Haseeb son of Habib-ur-Rehman, resident of Khanewal, Muqarib, resident of Khanewal; Ansar, resident of Khanewal; Shan, resident of Khaniwal. The injured was Arslan son of Haji Muhammad Amin, resident of Mian Chanu district Khaniwal.

The bodies and injured were shifted to a Gwadar hospital for completion of codal formalities and treatment, respectively. Later, the bodies were shifted to their native areas through ambulances.

The injured was also shifted to Karachi after first medical aid. The incident has created panic across the region while a mourning atmosphere prevailed in the victims. houses.
