Punjab University Library, in collaboration with the Institute of Information Management (IIM), marked World Book and Copyright Day with an awareness walk and seminar on Monday. The events aimed to celebrate the enduring journey of knowledge through various activities and discussions.

The day commenced with an awareness walk from the Institute of Information Management to Al Raazi Hall, symbolizing the commitment to learning and knowledge. Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, PU Pro-Vice Chancellor, highlighted the continuing relevance of books in his address, urging library professionals to embrace modern technology to cater to the digital generation’s needs.

Muhammad Khan Ranjha, Secretary Archives and Libraries Wing, applauded the efforts of PU Library and IIM in fostering a book culture. He shared numerous initiatives taken by his office to advance archives and libraries across Punjab.

Director IIM, Dr Shafiq ur Rehman, expressed gratitude to the guests and participants, emphasizing the commitment of both IIM and the PU Library in promoting reading culture and the intellectual value of books.

Dr Marghoob Hussain Tahir from Osaka University and columnist Afzaal Rehan shared insights on the personal and social value of book reading and sustaining reading habits in the digital age, respectively.

The celebration concluded with the PU Library Book Lover Awards, presented by Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani, who also extended thanks to all attendees and contributors.
