Islamabad: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a significant expansion of the electric bus network across the province, aiming to introduce 3,000 eco-friendly buses by June 2027.

According to Radio Pakistan, during the inauguration of the electric bus service in Multan, Maryam Nawaz revealed plans to deploy 1,500 new buses in 91 tehsils starting from January 2027. Additionally, an order has been placed for 1,100 buses intended for smaller districts and regional headquarters. The flat fare for this service will be twenty rupees, while students, women, senior citizens, and persons with special needs will be able to travel for free.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized the Punjab government's focus on various development sectors, including South Punjab, healthcare, agriculture, housing, and public transport. She also announced the provision of one hundred thousand electric bikes to students across the province as part of the government's initiatives.

The Chief Minister stated that strict measures are being implemented to combat corruption and bribery, resulting in the removal of around 600 officials, including police personnel, due to such charges.
