The Punjab government has launched a large-scale tree plantation campaign to address environmental pollution, particularly smog, and the effects of climate change. The campaign aims to plant 51 million trees in the current financial year.

A new program, “Shielding Summits Program,” has been established to address issues such as smog and forest fires in the Murree and Kahuta areas. This effort focuses on forest conservation and environmentally friendly practices in these mountainous regions.

Officials say these initiatives will not only help in environmental protection but will also significantly improve air quality and increase climate change resilience.
