LAHORE: Punjab Police Inspector General Faisal Shahkar Tuesday visited flood-hit areas in DGK and reviewed rescue and relief operations.
He was briefed about the relief operation and distributed ration bags to flood survivors. The police chief assured them of all-out support. Speaking on the occasion, he laid stress on extending help to flood survivors saying: “Since Pakistan is currently facing the worst flood in history, helping the affected people is a national and moral responsibility of all of us.
“The Punjab police are utilizing all-out resources to provide the flood survivors with relief. The police department is working side by side with other district and government institutions to help, protect and provide facilities to the flood-affected citizens.”
Faisal Shahkar added: “More than 6,000 Punjab police personnel are working day and night to assist flood victims across the province. The department has set up 388 relief camps for affected 743 villages.”
He continued: “A total of 20,600 flood survivors and more than 6,000 cattle have been moved to safe places. The police teams deployed at the river posts are on alert and all the police motorboats are engaged in assisting the victims. No stone will be left unturned in serving and helping the survivors.” He heaped praise on his team for their contribution to the cause and gave commendatory certificates to them.
