LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi on Saturday ordered to provide relief to the public as much as possible in Ramazan and formed a committee for the management of the Relief Packages during the holy month.
Various proposals were put forth by the government of Punjab regarding the Ramazan packages including Ramazan markets, free electricity and cash for households. The cost for relief on Rs550 flour bag was estimated to be Rs6 billion. The estimated price on more than 313 Ramazan Markets and other expenses including fair prices was recorded to be around Rs13 billion.
A recommendation of giving Rs5,000 per household was given which will have an estimated cost of Rs40 billion. 100 free units of electricity were also recommended to be given for a whole month in Ramazan which will relieve more than 13 million families. For the free units of electricity, a subsidy of Rs25 billion was also proposed.
The Ministerial committee will soon put forth suggestions to relieve the public in Ramazan. CM Punjab said that every single penny of the Ramadan package will be delivered to the public. In order to give relief to the public, instead of the traditional method, the Ramazan package will be finalized in a new non-conventional way.
