Punjab CM announces free education, books up to graduation level

Sialkot: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has made an announcement of free education and books up to the graduation level on Saturday.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Grand Asian University in Sialkot, Parvez Elahi said a 300 monthly stipend will be given to girls in 14 districts of South Punjab.

He listed education uplift feats during his previous term as the chief minister of the most populated province of the country, saying: “When I become the CM for the first time, I announce education up to matric will be free.” He said the teaching of the holy Quran has been made mandatory.

He expressed his determination to take revolutionary steps regarding development projects and flood rehab.

He said former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be arrested as soon as he makes a comeback to the country. He said Imran Khan did not make cases against them.

Taking a swipe at the Centre, Parvez Elahi said the federal government has not given anything to Punjab in aid coming from abroad. “Imran Khan and I collected two and a half billion rupees through telethon,” he added.

Hikes in oil prices and power tariffs have been adding to public problems.

He said following the Pak Army, Rescue 1122 is working day and night for helping flood victims and the emergency service will be given more vehicles.

The risk allowance of a traffic warden and patrolling police has been raised and he announced giving 50 crore rupees for the construction of two roads and an engineering university will be built in Sialkot.

Also, Chief Minister Parvez Elahi and former federal minister Moonis Elahi met Punjab Assembly Speaker Sabtain Khan at CMO and took up matters of legislation and flood relief and rehab op.

CM revealed that the Punjab government has chalked out a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation and settlement of the flood affectees.

The financial aid for the construction and repair of the houses of the flood affectees has been increased. He vowed to move forward in the journey of rendering public service without caring for the opponents.
