PTI leader Afridi re-arrested outside ATC after release

LAHORE:PTI leader Shehryar Afridi was arrested again from outside the anti-terrorism court on Friday after he was released by the court.

The ATC heard the case registered against Afridi at the New Town police station. Police produced him before the court. However, during the hearing, the court discharged Afridi and set him free. But as soon as he went out of the courtroom, the Rawalpindi police arrested him again and took him to Adiala Jail.

The former federal minister was arrested on the orders of the district commissioner of Rawalpindi. The PTI leader was held under the 3 MPO. He would remain under detention for another 15 days. Yesterday, Shehryar Afridi along with his brother Farrukh Afridi was re-arrested from outside the Adiala Jail.

He was detained in a case related to his involvement in vandalizing the gate of a sensitive institution. The case in question was registered at New Town police station, following an alleged attack on the office gate of the said sensitive institution.

Yesterday, Shehryar Afridi, along with five others, was granted bail by the Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding an incident where they were charged with attacking military installations on May 9.
