LAHORE:The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) summoned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief in a personal capacity on August 2 (Wednesday) in a case of contempt of the electoral watchdog. According to the written verdict on Friday, the electoral watchdog had suspended the PTI chief’s non-bailable arrest warrant. The ECP also approved the request of the PTI chief’s lawyers to provide the records.

According to the ECP, the PTI chief should be provided with the required documents by the concerned wing. The non-bailable arrest warrants had been temporarily suspended after the PTI chief’s appearance. On Tuesday, the ECP put off indictment of the PTI Chairman till August 2 in contempt of the electoral watchdog and the chief election commissioner (CEC). A four-member bench headed by member Nisar Durrani conducted hearing of the case. The PTI chief appeared before the electoral watchdog for the first time since case was taken up in October last year.
