QUETTA:Balochistan Zamindar Action Committee announced to launch protest movement against the unjustified power taxes of WAPDA.
This demand was made by Malak Naseer Shahwani, Chairman, and Balochistan Zamindar Action Committee while addressing a press conference with other office bearers of BZAC here on Wednesday.
Shahwani said eight percent population of the province were associated with agriculture to earn their livelihood, adding that agriculturist of the province faced loss of Rs. 300 billion owing to flood.
He said that dozens of tubewells in the province had been dysfunctional due to floods. He said that duration of supplying electricity to the agriculturist of the province from agriculture feeder was 2 to 3 hours which was not suffice to meet the requirements of agriculturists of the province besides violation of agreement concluded between government of Balochistan and Balochistan Zamindar Action Committee.
He said that BZAC had decided to launch protest movement against the behaviour, unjustified and exorbitant power bills of QESCO, adding that protest would be observed on October 05, 2023, followed by a protest rally to be taken out on October 11. He said if demands of Balochistan Zamindar Action Committee were not addressed, wheel jam strike would be observed on October 18, 2023 and all national highways of the province would be closed for vehicular traffic during wheel jam strike. On the occasion, Haji Abdul Rehman Bazai, General Secretary, BZAC, Abdul Rahim Kakar, Abdul Jabbar Kakar, Rasheed Nasar, Musa Baloch and others were also present.
