Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Highlights Economic Improvement in Pakistan

Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the improvement in key economic indicators as reflected in the latest monthly economic outlook report, citing significant progress in various sectors.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister noted a marked increase in remittances, which rose from $6.3 billion in July and August to over $7.3 billion. This 16.5 percent year-on-year increase in August is viewed as a sign of confidence from overseas Pakistanis, whom he described as a valuable national asset. He also highlighted a four percent increase in exports, viewing this as a positive development for the national economy.

The Prime Minister emphasized the decline in the current account deficit and the rise in foreign direct investment as indicators of progress toward economic stability. Overall foreign investment saw an 80.2 percent increase in July and August, reflecting growing investor confidence. He stated that the government is creating a conducive environment for investors to enhance economic activity.

Foreign exchange reserves reaching $26.8 billion were cited as evidence of improvement in Pakistan's external sector. The Prime Minister affirmed the government's commitment to continuing reforms and effective economic policies to stabilize the economy. Establishing a sustainable economic foundation remains a top priority for the government.

Shehbaz Sharif also pointed to a rise in large-scale manufacturing, with a 3.03 percent growth in July, and an increase in agricultural lending as important developments for the growth of these sectors. The significant increase in company registrations, which rose by 38.8 percent to 10,199 in July, was highlighted as a sign of growing business activity.

The Prime Minister noted the rise in the Pakistan Stock Exchange as a reflection of improved investor confidence. He stated that the government will further consolidate economic growth through reforms and the promotion of investment across all sectors. Efforts will continue to ensure that economic stability benefits the populace, creating more employment and business opportunities. He reiterated that the reform process will be accelerated to transform Pakistan into a strong, stable, and sustainable economy.
