Experts at a seminar have emphasized to re-examine Pakistan’s economy for a concrete way forward to overcome the prevailing economic challenges.

This key message was delivered by eminent speakers at the seminar on ‘Challenges for Pakistan’s Economy and the Way Forward’ held in Islamabad.

Discussing the structural roots of the economic crisis in Pakistan, former Chairman of Federal Board of Revenue Syed Mohammad Shabbar Zaidi pointed out that the biggest issue was the high import bill and weak export base.

Vice Chancellor Pakistan Institute of Development Economics Dr Nadeem ul Haque called for an agreement on 10-15 year national ‘Charter of Economy’ to ensure policy consistency.
