ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has stressed on empowering women to enhance their role in national growth and development.
He was addressing launching ceremony of UN Women’s performance report on Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection against Harassment (FOSPAH) here in Islamabad on Friday. The President said it is our social responsibility to create conducive environment for women to enable them get quality education and pursue their careers in a safe environment.
He said lack of focus on women’s health, malnutrition and depriving them of their property rights are some of the key issues that need to be addressed. The report by FOSPAH enumerated that the Secretariat has accelerated its efforts to curtail workplace harassment by creating awareness among the people which led to increase in reporting and resolution of cases of harassment. The report noted that more than 5000 cases of workplace harassment were reported and resolved since 2018 as against only 500 cases between 2010 to 2018.
