Prayer gathering in Karachi for Aafia Siddiqui’s release, appeal for prayers from those in Itikaf

A prayer gathering was held in Karachi by the Aafia Movement International for the release of Aafia Siddiqui, in which participating Chairperson Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui appealed to the public and individuals observing Itikaf to make special prayers for the early release of her sister, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, during the last ten days of Ramadan.

According to a statement issued today by the Aafia Movement International, during a spiritual prayer gathering held on the occasion of the completion of the Holy Quran in Tarawih prayers, the Tarawih prayers were led by Dr. Aafia’s son, Dr. Hafiz Ahmed, and Dr. Fowzia’s son, Hafiz Saeed.

A Quranic discourse and special prayer were arranged at the annual event. The participants prayed for the removal of obstacles and alleged indifference from national and international circles hindering Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s freedom.

Prayers were also offered for the security, peace, and prosperity of Pakistan and the Muslim world. The gathering sought help from Allah for the freedom of Palestine and Kashmir, and for the unity of the Muslim Ummah, and also prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased, including Dr. Aafia’s mother, Ismat Siddiqui.

The event was attended by Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui’s family members and prominent members of the Aafia Movement, including Altaf Shakoor, Waseemuddin Shaikh, Abdul Hakeem Qaid, Naeemuddin Naeem, Professor Tanveer, Malik Aslam, and Shero Bangash.

In her address, Dr. Fowzia congratulated Dr. Hafiz Ahmed and Hafiz Saeed for leading the prayers and expressed confidence that their dedication to continuing the annual tradition would be rewarded by Allah.
