ISLAMABAD: The parliamentarians of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto staged a token walkout from the National Assembly (NA) session against the harsh remarks of the PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan about President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday.

Gohar criticized President Zardari in yesterday’s joint session of the parliament and labeling him as an illegal and unconstitutional president.

He highlighted that President Zardari has refrained from engaging in any political activities. “If the president is meant to symbolize the unity of the entire nation, then he should step away from political roles, especially while still leading the Pakistan Peoples Party,” he asserted.

The PTI chairman also said they had no faith in the current president and prime minister. “The entire cabinet lacks legitimacy, which led us to interrupt the president’s speech,” he stated.

He further remarked, “During the joint parliament’s session, the opposition staged a symbolic 21-gun salute protest against Zardari, compelling him to cut short his speech.”

During the walkout, Bilawal Bhutto talked to the media in the Parliament House and said that the PPP exercised its democratic right of protest in the parliament to make the Speaker aware of their stance.

Bilawal also emphasized that responding to the discussions in the parliament was their prerogative. He praised NA Speaker Ayaaz Sadiq for running the parliamentary proceedings impartially.

The PPP chairman strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a foreign vehicle in Karachi and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of two lives in the attack. He also expressed confidence that the perpetrators of this heinous crime would soon be brought to justice.

He stressed the importance of respecting and protecting foreign visitors in Pakistan, stating that hospitality and protection of guests are national slogans of Pakistan.

Bilawal underscored the significance of Pakistan-Japan relations, highlighting that both countries desire to strengthen their ties and avoid any negative impact on their relations.

Lastly, Bilawal Bhutto offered prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack on Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, wishing them good health.
