Pakistan cannot progress unless the rights of the people of Sindh, Balochistan and Siraikis are recognized, stated PPP-Shaheed Bhutto leader Zulfiqar Bhutto Junior while speaking to the media in Makli, Thatta today.
He made these remarks while talking to media after offering condolence to PPP-SB leader Dr Lakhmeer Palari on the demise of his brother. Bhutto strongly opposed the construction of new canals from the Indus River, calling it an attempt to benefit a specific class of landowners at the cost of Sindh’s resources.
He said that the people of Sindh would never accept those canals and would continue their protests. The PPI-SB chief criticized the Sindh government’s failure to fulfill its election promises, stating that lawlessness in the province had reached alarming levels.
Speaking against corporate farming, he highlighted that millions of acres of Sindh’s land had been allocated under the Green Initiative project, which, according to him, would not benefit the local population but serve as an export-driven enterprise for earning foreign exchange.
He warned that corporate farming would economically harm poor farmers and small landowners, depriving them of their livelihood. He expressed concern that Sindh, Balochistan, and the Saraiki regions were being treated as colonies rather than integral parts of Pakistan.
In response to a question, Mr Bhutto clarified that he has no current plans to enter parliamentary politics.
During his visit, he was warmly welcomed by residents of Dhabeeji, Gharo, and other areas. Upon reaching Makli.
Accompanying him on the occasion were PPP-SB Thatta district president Babu Ahsan Bhutto, district leaders Anwar Bhutto, Pir Bakhsh Samo, Nisar Memon, and Lala Sagar Sheikh.
