PPP Central Information Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan, alongside Member of the National Assembly Syed Agha Rafiullah, today delivered a powerful message against the use of ethnic politics in Punjab.

In a fervent press conference in Islamabad, Chan emphasized that Punjab is a province for all, stressing the importance of unity over division. He warned against using what he termed “the Punjabi card,” drawing parallels to divisive tactics associated with foreign leaders like Modi.

Chan highlighted the historical roots of the Pakistan Peoples Party in Punjab, reminding attendees that the party was founded in the province. He urged political figures to focus on critical issues like poverty alleviation and the rehabilitation of flood victims, rather than engaging in blame games and ethnic rhetoric.

With Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz described as a sister to the PPP, Chan reiterated the party”s support and contribution to her election. He criticized the current governance structure, suggesting that only a handful of bureaucrats are wielding power in Punjab, sidelining elected representatives. Chan emphasized that resources such as water, electricity, gold, and gas are national assets that belong to all Pakistanis, advocating for a more inclusive approach to governance.

The PPP leader also touched on an existing agreement with the PML-N, urging them to expedite local government elections in Punjab and to prioritize relief efforts for flood victims. He called for the government to provide immediate assistance to those affected by natural disasters, highlighting the need for swift action in times of crisis.

Chan concluded by affirming the PPP”s commitment to representing and fighting for the rights of Punjab’s citizens, and warned against any actions that might fracture the unity of Pakistan”s provinces.
