Politics of horse-trading will not prevail: Sheikh Rashid

RAWALPINDI:Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Friday the “illegal” government had put the national honour, assets and foreign policy on sale to stay in power.

Hitting out at the ruling coalition in a tweet, the former interior minister quipped that burial should be declared free for the poor at least to give them relief at this stage.

He said the observers from across the world were asking whether elections would be held in Pakistan on time and if so, how these would happen. He asked against whom the PPP and PML-N, which are coalition partners in centre, would contest elections.

Holding the general elections, the way these were held in Karachi and Azad Kashmir would have disadvantages. He also took aim at Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, saying he had completed 50 foreign trips and now had reached the US. He said the US tour was a fourth failed attempt of the secret political activities, adding that Bilawal Bhutto would return empty-handed.

Saying the politics of horse-trading will not prevail, Sheikh Rashid predicted trouble in the formation of the caretaker setup in the centre.

The former minister said the “real impact” of the IMF loan deal would surface after July 12 when the executive board’s meeting was scheduled. He feared that the way stock exchange and rupee were making rebound, the situation would be the other way around after July 12.

He also lashed out at the government for increasing the price of 20kg flour bag by Rs100.
