Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the urgent necessity to prevent further escalation in the regional situation and to create space for the resumption of diplomatic initiatives. During a telephonic conversation with Sultan of Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the two leaders discussed the prevailing regional situation, which has worsened following Israel's attack on Iran and subsequent hostilities that have threatened the peace and security of the entire region.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted that the escalation occurred at a time when diplomatic efforts were underway to reduce US-Iran tensions, with Oman playing a facilitative role. He mentioned that the attacks have not only disrupted the fragile diplomatic process but have also undermined efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation in the region.
The Prime Minister expressed deep appreciation for Oman's mediatory role and commended Muscat's constructive efforts in facilitating dialogue and building trust among regional and international stakeholders. He acknowledged that Oman's balanced and forward-looking diplomacy acts as a stabilizing force in the region.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact and continue supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring calm and ensuring lasting regional stability.
