PM Shehbaz Unveils Rs20 Billion Ramazan Relief Package

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a Rs20 billion Ramazan Relief Package aimed at providing financial assistance to four million deserving families through digital cash transfers of Rs5,000 each. Addressing the launching ceremony

Addressing the launching ceremony, Sharif said the initiative was designed to ensure transparency and efficiency in delivering relief during the holy month.

According to a report by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today, the package will cover all provinces, as well as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He assured that the relief program will be closely monitored round the clock to ensure its effective implementation. Emphasizing ease for beneficiaries, he stated that this approach eliminates the need for people to stand in long queues at Utility Stores. He further announced that the Utility Stores Corporation will be privatized as part of broader economic reforms.

The Prime Minister strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Darul Uloom Haqqania, describing it as a tragedy that has deeply aggrieved the nation. He expressed confidence that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will apprehend those responsible and ensure they receive due punishment. Reaffirming his commitment to national security, he stressed the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.

Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, while addressing the event, stated that the cash transfers under the relief package would be completed within ten days. He also announced that stalls at the tehsil level would be set up to sell sugar at Rs130 per kilogram during Ramadan. Additionally, Utility Stores would provide essential commodities at a 15% discount to support the public during the holy month, the PM concluded.
