Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for women and creating a supportive environment for their progress.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with International Women’s Day, he acknowledged the contributions of women in politics, judiciary, education, and information technology.
The Prime Minister recognized the efforts of hardworking women in rural areas and highlighted recent government initiatives aimed at their welfare. He mentioned the launch of pink buses in Islamabad and the establishment of a Working Women Endowment Fund to support women in the workforce.
He also announced that day care centers would be inaugurated soon in the federal capital to facilitate working mothers.
Referring to the Punjab government’s role in women empowerment, he commended the Chief Minister’s Women Empowerment Package, emphasizing that provincial governments are aligned with the federal administration in advancing women’s welfare.
Recalling key measures taken during his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, he noted that monthly stipends were introduced to ensure school enrollment for girls in South Punjab. He also mentioned that by 2017-18, no children were working at brick kilns in Punjab, with 90,000 children enrolled in schools instead.
