ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son Suleman Shehbaz returned to homeland from Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed her son at the door of their house and garlanded him. PML-N leader Atta Ullah Tarar was also present on the occasion.
Suleman landed at Islamabad Airport in the week hours of today from a Saudi Airlines Flight. He is facing money laundering charges but has got protective bail from the Islamabad High Court. The Islamabad High Court has barred National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting Suleman wanted to NAB in assets beyond means case.
Suleman had been declared absconder in a money laundering case and was staying in London with his family since 2018. A court had declared Suleman Shehbaz and Tahir Naqvi absconders in July this year in a money laundering case against them. A two-judge IHC bench, headed by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, also ordered Suleman Shehbaz to surrender before the court by December 13 (Tuesday).
While hearing the plea for his protective bail on Thursday, IHC Chief Justice Farooq said that it was compulsory for an accused to appear in person for getting protective bail. Upon which the lawyer said that Suleman would reach Islamabad on December 11. After this, the court granted protective bail to the son of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
