Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a one-month extension in the subsidy provided last month for motorcyclists, as well as for public and goods transport. He took this decision to continue relief measures for economically vulnerable segments of society in view of the prevailing situation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister directed the relevant authorities to prevent any increase in travel and freight fares. He emphasized the need for effective monitoring of relief measures so that their benefits reach the deserving people directly.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that the Federal Government, in collaboration with provincial governments, has provided a multi-billion-rupee national relief package for the common man during these challenging times. He reiterated that the government will continue to provide maximum possible relief to the public and that ensuring relief for the common man will remain its top priority. He stressed that the people will not be left alone under any circumstances.

The Prime Minister also prayed for an early improvement in the regional situation so that petroleum product prices can stabilize.
