ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal on Friday stressed the need for taking measures to evolve an effective cyber-security system.

Presiding over a meeting on the Cyber Security System here in Islamabad, he asked to utilize the skills of cyber security experts in the private sector. He emphasized efficiently tackling the cyber-security-related threats in collaboration with the corporate sector; academia and national-level experts.

He said in the field of technology, our capacity and speed should be aligned with the global requirements. The Planning Minister said the government is initiating special programmes in the technology sector to meet ‘new challenges’ in the field of cyber security.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics extended the date for the ongoing seventh population census for the fifth time on Friday. The deadline for the enumeration- which was originally scheduled to be completed by April 4-has been extended for 15 days to May 15. The exercise was initially extended till April 10 and then again till April 15, 20 and 30.
