The tree plantation campaign launched by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Rawalpindi is in full swing.
In this regard, a tree plantation event was organized at Millia Park located on 6th Road on Saturday. The event was held under the title ‘Plant for Pakistan’.
Member National Assembly (MNA), Ms Tahira Aurangzeb participated in the event as a special guest. Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) and Parliamentary Secretary, Ms Shazia Rizwan, MPAs- Ms Zeib-un-Nisa Awan and Ms Asma Abbasi also participated in the tree plantation campaign.
Ms Tahira Aurangzeb and other women planted saplings and then planted trees. To highlight the importance, PHA officers and staff also participated in an awareness walk.
Children present in the park also participated in the plantation drive by planting saplings. Later, Ms Tahira Aurangzeb and others went to a free sapling distribution camp in Millia Park and distributed free saplings among the public.
On this occasion, Ms Tahira Aurangzeb said planting trees is very important to make the environment healthy. She said we have to understand the importance of planting trees to protect our areas, cities, streets and neighborhoods from pollution and climate change effects.
She said women should participate side by side in the PHA plantation drive and contribute to the mission of a green Rawalpindi. On this occasion, 105 saplings were planted in Millia Park and 150 saplings were distributed among the public.
