The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Rawalpindi organized various tree plantation events across the city on International Forest Day celebrated on Friday (March 21) all over the world.
The events were organized on the instructions of Director General PHA Ahmed Hassan Ranjha to highlight the importance of the tree plantation. A tree plantation ceremony was organized by PHA Rawalpindi at Allama Iqbal Park.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hassan Waqar Cheema, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Advocate Muhammad Hanif, Ms Tahira Aurangzeb, MPA Ziaullah Shah, Haji Pervez Khan, PML-N leader Bilal Kiani and others.
All the guests became part of the tree plantation campaign by planting saplings and highlighted the importance of tree plantation among the public. They also distributed saplings to the public by visiting the PHA’s free sapling distribution stall.
A tree plantation ceremony was also organized by PHA at Dhok Munshi Potwar Park, in which Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Daniyal Chaudhry specially participated and became part of the campaign by planting saplings. In addition, local school girls also planted saplings.
Earlier, the tree plantation ceremony was held at Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) building in which Director General RDA Kanza Murtaza, Managing Director Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) M. Saleem Ashraf and Director Horticulture PHA Sheikh Tariq Mahmood participated by planting a sapling.
In addition, a tree plantation ceremony was organized by PHA at Rawalpindi Press Club in which Director Admin and Finance PHA Hasnain Sahib, President of National Press Club Azhar Jatoi and Executive Governing Body Members Izharul Haq Niazi and Shakeel Awan and others participated.
All the esteemed members participated in the tree plantation campaign by planting saplings. President National Press Club Azhar Jatoi said that the journalist community will stand by PHA in the tree plantation campaign.
On the occasion of World Forest Day, PHA set up plant distribution points at different places in Rawalpindi city on the special instructions of Director General PHA, in which thousands of free saplings were distributed to the general public.
More than 2600 saplings were planted in Allama Iqbal Park. In all the ceremonies, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of tree plantation and expressed their commitment to plant saplings.
They said PHA is utilizing all resources to advance the mission of a green Rawalpindi.
