QUETTA: The Peshawar-Chitral road has been closed for all kinds of vehicular traffic due to heavy snow on the Dir Upper side of the highway.

According to a statement from the District Administration of Chitral today, people especially tourists are advised to avoid visiting the area due to the closure of the roads.

He said National Highway Authority is busy in the removal of snow to open the road for traffic at the earliest.

Meanwhile, traffic has been restored at Malam Jabba and Lowari Tunnel by removing snow from several kilometers of the nearby roads.

According to a report on Tuesday, rescue teams of Pakistan Army and district administration remained active throughout the night. Due to heavy snowfall yesterday, many passengers and tourists were also shifted to safe places.

Rescue teams of Pak Army will continue to work till the restoration of complete traffic in the surroundings of Lowari tunnel and Malam Jabba.
