People stage protest against man’s death in Indian army camp in Rajouri

JAMMU: People staged a protest against the death of a civilian inside an Indian army camp in Rajouri district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a Kashmir Media Service report on Wednesday, people blocked the Jammu-Rajouri Highway after a man working as a contractor with Military Engineering Services (MES) died of electrocution inside an Indian army camp in Talian Nowshera area of the district. The victim was identified as Amrit Singh, 32.

The protesting people including the victim’s family and the local residents demanded adequate investigation and financial assistance.

The protesters said that the victim was asked to work on electricity transmission lines when the electricity was restored without any signal, resulting in his on-the-spot death. “We want proper investigation into the matter to ascertain the negligence that led to his death,” demanded the protesters.

They further said that the victim was lone bread earner of family comprising his parents, wife, two minor children and parents. The protesters demanded adequate compensation to the family of the deceased.
