PCB Advances Key Privatisation Transactions in Power, Aviation, and Financial Sectors

Islamabad:The Privatisation Commission Board has approved significant measures to progress ongoing privatisation efforts in the power, aviation, and financial sectors.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Board convened in Islamabad under the leadership of Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation Muhammad Ali. A major decision included the pre-qualification of nine interested parties for the privatisation of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company. These parties comprise three Turkish energy firms and prominent Pakistani business groups and investment consortia, highlighting sustained investor interest in Pakistan's electricity distribution sector.

The Board also addressed the aviation sector by deliberating on the reconstitution of the Negotiation Committee. This committee is responsible for the outsourcing and concession of major airports, including Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, and Islamabad International Airport.

Furthermore, the Board assessed the progress of key financial-sector transactions. They instructed transaction advisers to expedite the privatisation process for House Building Finance Company Limited and Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited to ensure these transactions are completed promptly.

The Board reiterated its dedication to advancing the government's privatisation programme through transparent, competitive, and professionally managed transactions. The focus is on attracting credible domestic and international investment, enhancing efficiency and service delivery, and maximizing value for the government and the people of Pakistan.
