Partial lockdown enforced in Sindh to contain spread of Covid-19

As per decision of Sindh government, partial lockdown was enforced in the province, including Karachi today (Saturday), to contain the spread of fourth-wave of the Covid-19.

All businesses except grocery, meat and vegetable shops and pharmacies remained closed.

Inter-city transport was also off the road while light vehicles with strict adherence to SOPs were allowed to ply on roads only for vaccination purpose.

Sindh government has announced to end ban on pillion riding and allow public transport to ply, to facilitate people for vaccination.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi today, Spokesman of Sindh government Murtaza Wahab said the lockdown will not be applicable to inter-provincial transport and airports.

He said only those institutions will be allowed to work which get their employees vaccinated while the institutions violating the SOPs will be sealed for one month.

Meanwhile, National Command and Operation Center has said federally administered sectors in Sindh will continue to operate in accordance with pre-determined SOPs during the lockdown.

In a statement today, the forum said these sectors include flight operations under SoPs, railways with seventy percent passengers, Pakistan Stock Exchange and other offices of federal government with minimum staff as per the SoPs.
