Pakistan and Morocco have pledged to enhance their collaboration in various sectors, including trade, tourism, education, health, and agriculture, by strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and institutional partnerships. This commitment arose from a meeting of the Pakistan-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group at Parliament House, presided over by Senator Bilal Ahmed Khan. Moroccan Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohamed Karmoune, raised concerns regarding visa difficulties encountered by Moroccan citizens and appealed for reciprocal visa facilitation from Pakistan, highlighting Morocco’s existing e-visa system for Pakistanis.

Senator Khan underscored the significance of fortifying economic, diplomatic, and parliamentary connections between the two nations. He suggested that frequent interactions could establish a robust base for enduring cooperation and increased people-to-people contact. Ambassador Karmoune reiterated Morocco’s dedication to fostering relations with Pakistan, especially through promoting balanced trade and encouraging increased imports from Pakistan. He also invited high-level delegations to visit, aiming to solidify the bond further.

Ms. Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate, emphasized the necessity of institutional cooperation within bilateral and constitutional frameworks, identifying trade, tourism, and cultural exchange as key domains for sustained alliances. Senator Faisal Saleem Rahman highlighted potential areas of collaboration in medical equipment, education, sports, and defense training. He advocated for a formal bilateral pact to promote tourism and suggested providing scholarships to Pakistani students based on their province of origin. The meeting concluded with both parties reiterating their commitment to bolster Pakistan-Morocco relations through continuous parliamentary dialogue, regular interactions, and concrete initiatives.
