Pakistan’s Interior Minister vows to combat corruption in passport offices

LAHORE: In a bold move to tackle corruption and streamline public services, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday pledged to eradicate the agent mafia operating within Pakistani passport offices.

During a visit to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Center on Zarar Shaheed Road in Lahore, Naqvi issued directives to center officials, emphasizing the need to enhance cleanliness standards and expedite public service delivery.

Engaging directly with visitors at the NADRA center, Naqvi sought firsthand insights into the challenges faced by citizens regarding the issuance of national identity cards and other crucial documents. He instructed officials to swiftly address public grievances and ensure a seamless experience for applicants.

Naqvi said that NADRA offices are free from the influence of the agent mafia, however, he vowed to take decisive action against any such elements found operating within passport offices. His proactive approach, including personal inspections of facilities and engagements with the public, underscores his commitment to transparency and accountability in government operations.

Naqvi’s visit to the NADRA center reflects a concerted effort to address public concerns and improve service delivery standards. By prioritizing the eradication of corruption and streamlining bureaucratic procedures, the Pakistani government aims to bolster public trust and ensure equal access to essential services for all citizens.
