Pakistani Senator Raises Concerns Over Indian Aggression During US Visit

Senator Khalil Tahir, a prominent Pakistani legislator, voiced concerns about regional instability stemming from Indian aggression and water disputes during high-level meetings with U.S. State Department officials in Washington, D.C.

Tahir, accompanied by Atlantic Council Fellow Shahid Rehmat, characterized the escalating tensions as threats to peace in South Asia. He also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to peacebuilding, social inclusion, and interfaith harmony, sharing insights into the nation”s domestic efforts.

The senator proposed several initiatives to bolster diplomatic, economic, and social cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. He urged both countries to capitalize on recent positive developments in their relationship by expanding collaborations in key sectors.

Discussions encompassed a range of topics, including trade, education, healthcare, energy, and counter-terrorism. Tahir emphasized Pakistan”s dedication to human rights, minority safeguards, and the rule of law.

U.S. officials acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to regional security and social advancement, expressing keen interest in broader cooperation. They appreciated Pakistan’s role in fostering economic and political stability in the region.
