Bangladesh’s Adviser on Religious Affairs, Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, including flood relief assistance offered by Bangladesh and the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
Dr. Hossain delivered a letter from Professor Yunus expressing condolences for the devastation caused by recent floods in Pakistan and offering aid. Sharif welcomed Hossain and his delegation, emphasizing the strong historical, cultural, and familial bonds between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations, including growing people-to-people interactions, academic partnerships, and economic ties. He stressed the importance of continued growth in these areas. Sharif praised Professor Yunus”s influential work in poverty reduction and his commitment to fostering stronger ties between the two nations.
Hossain affirmed the brotherly relationship between the two countries based on shared history and faith. The two leaders also explored the possibility of reinstating direct flights between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Sharif reiterated his invitation for Professor Yunus to officially visit Pakistan and extended an invitation to the Chief Advisor on behalf of the Bangladeshi government.
