Pakistan Welcomes US Stance on TTP Threat to Global Peace

Pakistan has embraced the United States’ acknowledgment of the threat posed by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to global peace and security.

During a weekly briefing today, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan expressed satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and the US on counterterrorism efforts, emphasizing its continuation in the future.

Responding to the US-imposed export restrictions on Pakistani commercial entities, Khan criticized the measures as politically motivated and counterproductive to global export control objectives. He argued these restrictions hinder legitimate access to technology essential for socio-economic development.

Addressing a bill introduced in the US House of Representatives concerning Pakistan, Khan remarked that it represents a single legislator’s initiative. He expressed optimism that the US Congress will maintain its supportive role in strengthening Pakistan-US ties, focusing on mutual collaboration for the benefit of both nations.

Khan also voiced concerns over recent raids by Indian authorities on residences of All Parties Hurriyat Conference members in Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as efforts to suppress dissent. He urged India to respect the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, including their right to self-determination.

Welcoming the recent limited ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine, Khan applauded the US administration’s role in facilitating the agreement, which prohibits attacks on energy infrastructure and ensures safe navigation in the Black Sea. He expressed hope that these initial steps will lead to a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire.
