Pakistan Welcomes Report of UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine.

Pakistan: Pakistan welcomes the latest report of the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese, calling out Israel for pushing through a systemic agenda of forced displacement and inhalation and genocide in Gaza and the West Bank.

According to Radio Pakistan, responding to a question at her weekly news briefing in Islamabad today, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said the report highlights how Israel has been committing genocide against the Palestinian people through acts of territorial expansion and ethnic cleansing. Pakistan endorses the stance of the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine that Israel is obstructing international investigation efforts including denying the entry of fact-finding teams from the United Nations. Pakistan supports her call on the international community in acting decisively, bringing an end to Israel’s unbridled atrocities against the Palestinians, and ensuring unhindered humanitarian assistance to Gaza as well as full financing and protection of UNRWA.

The Spokesperson expressed concern about Israeli actions against relief workers and agencies, including UNRWA, and its continuous war on hospitals and vaccination centers.

Responding to questions about Pak-US relations, the Spokesperson noted that the President and the Prime Minister have congratulated President-elect Donald Trump on his election as the 47th President of the United States, emphasizing Pakistan’s long-standing relationship with the US and the desire to further strengthen and broaden ties in all fields. She highlighted that Pakistan and the United States are old friends and partners, committed to promoting relations based on mutual respect, mutual confidence, and non-interference in each other’s domestic affairs.

Addressing another question about the resolution passed by the Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, which calls for the restoration of special status, the Spokesperson affirmed Pakistan’s well-known position on Indian occupation. She reiterated that the people of Ja
mmu and Kashmir will determine their future and emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory. Any steps that contravene the UN Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and international law are unacceptable to the people of Kashmir and Pakistan. The Spokesperson stressed that any measures should conform to international law and UN Security Council resolutions, urging India to respect the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and freedom as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
