Pakistan Vows To Combat Global Human Smuggling Amid Migrant Tragedy

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to fighting human trafficking worldwide.

His statement, released on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, follows several devastating incidents involving Pakistani migrants. The Prime Minister highlighted recent shipwrecks of vessels carrying undocumented Pakistani emigrants, underscoring the perilous nature of illegal migration. These tragedies further emphasize the urgent need for international cooperation to address this criminal activity.

To counter this growing threat domestically, the federal government has established a dedicated task force. This specialized unit will focus on preventing human smuggling and mitigating the associated risks.

Pakistan is actively involved in various international forums. These include the Budapest Process, discussions with Silk Road nations, and the Bali Process. Through these platforms, Pakistan is working to bolster collaborative initiatives to curb human trafficking and safeguard vulnerable populations from exploitation.
