Pakistan Urges Continued Support for UN Peacekeeping

New York:United Nations Pakistan has advocated for sustained political support and investment in United Nations Peacekeeping operations.

According to Radio Pakistan, these remarks were delivered by Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Usman Jadoon, during a panel discussion at the Challenges Annual Forum titled 'Turning the Tide Building Momentum for Peace Operations in a Demanding World.'

Jadoon highlighted that over the past six decades, more than 270,000 Pakistani peacekeepers have served under the UN flag, with 183 losing their lives in the line of duty. He emphasized Pakistan's support for reforms in peacekeeping to enhance its agility, technological capabilities, and responsiveness to changing conflict dynamics. However, he stressed that these reforms should aim to make peacekeeping more efficient and effective, rather than diminishing its capacity.
