Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced the formation of the Army Rocket Force Command while speaking at a grand Independence Day celebration in Islamabad, marking both the nation’s freedom and the victory in Operation Marka-e-Haq.

The new command, equipped with advanced technology, aims to bolster Pakistan’s defense capabilities against multifaceted threats. Sharif emphasized the program’s defensive nature.

The Prime Minister urged all political factions to join the “Meesaaq-e-Istehkaam-e-Pakistan” (Pact for the Stability of Pakistan) to foster lasting national advancement and stability. He stressed the importance of national unity despite political disagreements.

Sharif commended the nation for overcoming terrorism and vowed to prevent its resurgence. While upholding freedom of speech, he warned against actions detrimental to the state. He described Marka-e-Haq as a defining moment, solidifying the nation”s resolve to protect its homeland.

Sharif acknowledged the support of friendly nations, including China, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Qatar, UAE, Iran, and Saudi Arabia, for countering India”s accusations and backing Pakistan during the May conflict. He also thanked former US President Donald Trump for his role in the ceasefire and expressed hope for his assistance in resolving the Kashmir dispute according to UN resolutions.

The Prime Minister highlighted economic improvements under his administration, citing reduced inflation, a thriving stock market, and renewed investor trust. He lauded the youth as the nation”s future and acknowledged the contributions of overseas Pakistanis, with remittances reaching a record $38 billion.

Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan”s commitment to the Palestinian and Kashmiri people. He unveiled the Marka-e-Haq monument to commemorate the operation’s success. President Asif Ali Zardari, along with other dignitaries and international representatives, attended the event.

The ceremony showcased a parade with contingents from Pakistan”s armed forces, along with troops from Azerbaijan and Turkiye. A fly-past by PAF Falcons and musical performances by military bands added to the festivities. Documentaries highlighting Pakistan”s journey and the Marka-e-Haq operation were also screened. The event concluded with fireworks at midnight, marking Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.
