Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday held high-level talks in Abu Dhabi with the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE)Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, focusing on visa facilitation and expanded cooperation in security and technology.
Minister Naqvi received a warm welcome at the UAE Ministry of Interior, including a ceremonial Guard of Honor. During the meeting, both sides discussed visa-related challenges faced by Pakistani citizens and agreed on taking necessary measures to ease the process, especially for work visas. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed assured full support on the matter.
The discussions also covered a wide range of issues including enhanced collaboration in anti-narcotics, anti-smuggling, illegal immigration prevention, and the exchange of modern technology. Both ministers emphasized the critical role of artificial intelligence in tackling emerging security threats.
Minister Naqvi described the longstanding ties between Pakistan and the UAE as a ‘valuable asset’ and highlighted the contributions of Pakistani expatriates in bolstering the UAE economy. ‘We want Pakistani citizens to be able to come to the UAE easily, and easing visa policies will greatly benefit them,’ he stated. Reaffirming their shared commitment to regional peace and sustainable development, the two sides pledged to expand bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
As part of his visit, Naqvi also toured Abu Dhabi’s state-of-the-art police operations center, where he was briefed on crime prevention and public safety mechanisms. He expressed admiration for the UAE’s advanced policing model and its use of cutting-edge surveillance and monitoring technologies.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking UAE officials including Major General Salem Ali Al Shamsi, Major General Sheikh Mohammed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed, and Brigadier Saeed Abdullah Al Suwaidi. Pakistani Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and other senior Pakistani diplomats also participated.
