Pakistan’s leadership today reiterated its commitment to advancing women’s rights and empowerment, emphasizing the need for stronger policies to enhance women’s safety, education, and economic independence.

President Asif Ali Zardari in a statement underscored the country’s dedication to upholding women’s rights in accordance with constitutional provisions and international commitments. He highlighted legislative measures taken to protect women, including laws addressing domestic violence, workplace harassment, and gender-based discrimination.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a statement pledged to accelerate efforts to ensure women’s rights and create an environment where every woman can realize her potential. He emphasized the significance of legal reforms, policy interventions, and institutional support in achieving these objectives.

He also stressed the importance of respecting women’s dignity and rights, noting that Islam places great emphasis on these principles.

The leadership called for additional measures to strengthen policies that support women’s empowerment and ensure their full participation in all sectors of society.
