ISLAMABAD: At the United Nations, Pakistan and OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) have called for principle of right to self-determination to resolve the key global issues, including Kashmir and Palestine as per the UN resolutions.

In his opening remarks, Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Munir Akram warned that these unresolved issues posed a threat to international peace and security, according to a Radio Pakistan’s report.

He said right of self-determination was “bedrock” of modern international system and fundamental principle of the UN Charter. He further said right to self-determination is being flagrantly denied in Palestine and in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, the OIC Permanent Observer to the UN Hameed Opeloyeru said that OIC firmly supports legitimate struggle of Kashmiri people for realization of their inalienable right to self-determination.
