Pakistan offers KSA to invest in multipurpose Diamer Bhasha dam: PM

ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan has offered brotherly country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), to invest in multipurpose Diamer Bhasha dam. In a tweet on Wednesday, he said the coalition government has focused its attention on development of hydropower projects. The Prime Minister emphasized for tapping the abundant solar and hydel energy resources.

Shehbaz Sharif said he launched a program for solarization of 100,000 tube wells yesterday. He said the solarization of tube wells will provide cheap electricity to the farmers and boost our domestic agricultural yield, leading to self-sufficiency in food production.

He said a total of 377 billion rupees will be spent on solarization of tubewells. The Prime Minister said our economy cannot grow with high power tariff. We have to replace the power plants operating on costlier fuel that burdens our people and results in circular debt.
