Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi has been awarded Turkey’s highest award “Legion of Merit” during his official visit to Turkey. Presented by Turkish Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercument Tatlioglu, the award recognized Admiral Niazi’s significant role in strengthening defense and naval partnerships between Pakistan and Turkey.
Upon arrival at the Turkish Naval Headquarters, Admiral Niazi was presented with a Guard of Honor and held discussions with Admiral Tatlioglu on mutual cooperation and shared concerns between the two navies.
The Pakistan Navy Chief’s visit also included meetings with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler, Chief of General Staff General Metin Grak, and Turkish Fleet Commander Admiral Kadir Yildiz. Their discussions focused on enhancing regional maritime security and defense cooperation, with Admiral Niazi advocating for increased joint exercises, reciprocal visits, and training exchanges.
Admiral Niazi’s visit also included a tour of the Istanbul Naval Shipyard, where he was briefed on the Pakistan Navy’s MILGEM project, a key symbol of bilateral defense cooperation. He also visited the Golcuk Naval Base and received briefings on advancements in submarine construction and design.
Furthermore, he paid respects at the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey.
The visit is expected to further strengthen and broaden the existing cultural and military ties between Pakistan and Turkey.
