Islamabad: Pakistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations and the Secretariat of the UN Group of Friends to Eliminate Hepatitis co-hosted a strategic diplomatic briefing and consultation in New York, the United States: The theme of the event was "Advancing Hepatitis Elimination: Building Momentum toward High-Level Political Action."According to Radio Pakistan, in his opening remarks, Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, highlighted the government's efforts through the Prime Minister's Program for the Elimination of Hepatitis C. He stated that $250 million has been allocated in collaboration with the World Health Organization to eliminate Hepatitis C as a public health threat by 2030.Ambassador Jadoon emphasized that the project offers free screening, diagnosis, and treatment. He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is leading the National Task Force, which oversees the program's progress and provides strategic direction.
