Pakistan’s Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, announced that the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum, starting tomorrow (Tuesday), aims to showcase the country’s mineral resources to potential investors.
The forum will introduce a harmonized framework designed to attract investment in the mining sector, developed with input from all provincial governments. Malik noted that the focus will be on promoting sustainable and responsible mining.
During a news conference with OGDCL Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak, Malik highlighted that participants from countries such as Turkiye, China, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, the US, Denmark, Finland, Kenya, and the UK are expected, with about 300 foreign delegates anticipated. The forum will also witness the signing of MOUs and agreements, including those focused on skill development in the mining sector.
The event will feature technical sessions and exhibitions showcasing technological solutions. Ahmed Hayat described the response to the forum as overwhelming and emphasized Pakistan’s emergence as a serious destination for the mineral sector. He stated the forum would become an annual event.
Addressing inquiries, Ahmed Hayat said that the first phase of the Reko Diq project is set for completion by 2028, with the second phase due by 2034, promising a new revenue stream for the country.
