Pakistan Navy’s third Hangor-class submarine, PNS Mangro, was launched in China, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s naval modernization efforts. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday announced the launch, which was attended by Vice Admiral Abdul Samad, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Projects-II), and high-ranking representatives from both Pakistan and China.

Vice Admiral Samad emphasized the strategic value of the Hangor-class vessels in upholding regional equilibrium and stability. He reiterated Pakistan Navy’s dedication to protecting national interests and fostering maritime cooperation. The admiral stated that the project reinforces the strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and China.

The acquisition of eight Hangor-class submarines is part of a broader agreement between the two countries. Four of these advanced vessels are being assembled in China, while the other four will be constructed at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) under a technology transfer agreement.

These submarines boast cutting-edge weaponry and sensor technology, enabling precise engagement of far-off targets. This significantly bolsters Pakistan’s submarine warfare capabilities.
