Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held discussions with Chief Executive John Lee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region today, emphasizing Hong Kong’s emerging role in international mediation with the establishment of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed).
During the meeting, Senator Dar highlighted Hong Kong’s unique position as a global connector between East and West. He commended the economic and social progress achieved by Hong Kong under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework. The Deputy Prime Minister and Chief Executive deliberated on strategies to bolster economic, investment, and trade ties between Pakistan and Hong Kong.
Senator Dar regarded the launch of IOMed as a significant development inspired by President Xi Jinping’s vision, aligning with Pakistan’s dedication to dialogue-driven diplomacy and adherence to UN Charter principles. He also praised the Pakistani community in Hong Kong for their role in fostering bilateral relations and contributing to the region”s economy.
Chief Executive John Lee expressed enthusiasm for deepening collaboration with Pakistan and warmly welcomed Senator Dar’s visit, which coincided with the official signing ceremony for the IOMed establishment.
